I realized that I never ended up blogging about my favorite store Nordstrom expanding to my homeland Canada!  Woohoo! I grew up in Canada and Canada’s retail landscape has been sorely lacking an upscale department store with superior customer service.  After Eatons’ closed, the Bay and Holt Renfrew were the only game in town. I think a lot of consumers were driven to more boutique type stores and it allowed those to flourish.

Nordstrom opened its first store at the Chinook Center in Calgary in September 2014.  It is currently constructing 5 more stores by the end of 2017: Rideau Center in Ottawa, Yorkdale, Eaton Center and Sherway Gardens in Toronto and the Pacific Centre Vancouver.  I was recently in Toronto and saw the massive construction effort that is happening in the Yorkdale parking lot!  It is so exciting to see that they will have a brand new building at Yorkdale.  It is also *really* exciting to hear that they will be taking over the old Eatons’ location at the Eaton Center.

Canadian Nordstrom shoppers have been able to shop Nordstrom.com for awhile now, since Nordstrom does do International shipping (so shoppers from Australia, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and beyond can also shop!).  However, there is nothing like stepping foot in a Nordstrom store and experiencing the incredible customer service that they are known for, as well as the (fun) madness that is the first day of the Anniversary Sale!

I’ve also heard that there are eventually plans to open Nordstrom Rack stores in Canada as well.  How exciting for the Canadian market!  Right now, Winners is the main player in that sector of retail but I think Nordstrom Rack is far superior in the quality of goods you can find as well as the organization of the store.

Any shoppers from Canada visiting my blog?  Tell me, what are you more excited for: Nordstrom in Canada or Nordstrom Rack in Canada?
